Firewire 4pin to 6pinA high-speed data transfer wire and port. There are two connection types: 4pin and 6pin. 4pin is a small almost "M" shaped plug whereas 6pin is a rectangle with one rounded edge.

Firewire also comes in two transfer speeds, though the cable is identical: Firewire 400 is slower than USB 2, but Firewire 800 is faster than USB 2.

NB: Some Firewire devices require the Bus all to themselves, and so you may experience problems if you have a Firewire Hard Drive and camera plugged in at the same time. This issue may be resolved by purchasing a USB drive.
