A Deinterlace filter will take the Interlaced fields of an image taken from a video signal and shift over either the Odd or Even scan-lines to help get rid of jagged edges and pixel gaps.

This is a close up on my finger in an Interlaced shot, and the same image after it has been Deinterlaced.
