CCDThis is a featured page

Charge Coupled Device: The optical sensor that converts light into a digital signal. This is what many videocameras use to capture you image. A 3CCD camera has 3 CCD chips which provides for a much better image than a single CCD can provide.

The size of the CCD also matters. The larger the CCD the more information it can capture. Most "prosumer" cameras have 1/3" CCDs, whereas the mid-range professional cameras have 1/2" CCDs.
