Go to your local hardward store and buy a broom handle or extending paint pole ($40 max). While you're there, pick up a PVC "T" joint that is about 4" in diameter ($2). Also get 4 really thin, small bungee cords ($5). You will also need a 4" square of 2x4, 4 screws, a file (1/4" round would be best), a saw, some glue, and a drill.

Cut the corners off the 2x4 block so that it fits snugly into the buttom of the "T" joint in the PVC (you can screw this into place if you like). Then drill a hole in the wood that is just big enough for the screw part of the handle or pole (you can also glue these two pieces together if you like).

File four groves on both sides of the top of the "T" joint, one on each side of the opening about an inch from the top and bottom. Stick the bungee cords around the top of the "T" and connect them to each other around the side. You should now have two parrallel, horizontal lines going around your "T" joint that can be attached to the Boom Pole.

To insert the Shotgun Mic, twist the bungee cords over the opening on both ends around each other once. Then slide your microphone through the little hole that is formed. The bungee cords will hold the mic in place while it is attached to the pole and will also cut down the thumps that come down the pole to your mic when the Operator moves the pole.
